Demo Derby Truck Rules All rules are subject to the interpretation of the officials, any equipment that the officials consider not in the intent of the rules will be considered illegal for competition. In the interest of fairness the rules may be adjusted to create a balance in competition. Safety: 1. Anyone entering pit area must display pit pass. 2. No animals allowed in pit area. 3. Keep your pit area clean, remove your trash 4. Alcohol, Drugs, Firearms, Verbal or Physical abuse will not be tolerated Event: 1. All injuries must be reported to track officials no matter how minor. 2. Regulation racing crash helmets must be worn during the entire event. 3. Long sleeve shirts mandatory, no shorts. 4. Seat belts must remain buckled during the event. 5. Driver’s are to stay in their truck during the entire event, except when directed by officials 6. Driver’s Meeting will be attended by all holding a pit pass (Mandatory) 7. Drivers may be disqualified for: a. Sandbagging, (staying in the background and doing little hitting). b. Being hooked to another car too long or not making contact with another car. c. Drivers door contact or hitting a truck of driver that has waved off d. Teaming (Team events excluded) e. Car condition (Anything that endangers participants) f. Driver or Pit Crew Behavior Vehicle Rules: 1. All trucks must be full size American made ½ or ¾ ton pickup. No Crew Cabs, Dually’s, 4X4’s, Military or SUV’s 2. Remove interior, all body trim, body clips, glass, plastic grills and composite body parts. 3. Material sizes, unless specified in rule are as follows: Chains ½”, Welding filler 1/4” rebar or ¼”x 1” flat stock. All are maximum sizes. 4. Truck # must be installed on both sides, and on roof. Min 18” lettering. Numbers Only!! 5. Gas tanks must be removed from stock location. New tank installed rear of cab passenger side. Chains, cable, or steel brackets must secure gas tanks. Tanks must be made of steel or similar quality. 5 gal. Max. Tanks. No plastic tanks or plastic connectors. Tank must be installed within safety bars and covered 6. Holes must be made in the floorboard around the gas tank for possible spillage. 7. Battery must be relocated to front passenger floorboard. Batterie/s must be covered and securely attached with bolts or chains. No Plumbers tape. 8. Mandatory Safety Bars: Side bars from dash to back of cab. Cross bars, at dash, behind driver. Side bars and cross bars must be connected by welding or bolting. Side bars 6”X3/8” material min. and cross bars minimum 3” pipe, or square tubing. Schedule #40 min. See attached drawing. All 4 corners of safety cage must be welded to frame, 4” max attachment to frame. Mandatory 2” vertical bars from rear cross bar to roof with 6” plate connection on roof. Mandatory 3” min. bars (2) from top of cab angled down to front bed mount (See attached drawing) 9. Mandatory: Weld or bolt windshield braces (2) from top of opening to bottom of opening to prevent hood from entering car. 10. Bumper heights, front and rear, will not be higher than 20” measured from the ground to the bottom of bumper. Trucks may be raised to this height. Spring spacers are the only accepted method for lifting. Used trucks heights determined by officials. 11. Bumper may be welded to bumper brackets. Bumper brackets may be welded to frames. No fillers or added material, No bumper seem welding. 5mph bumper may be installed using 3”x 12”x 1/2” Maximum, square tubing only, welded on outside frame only. Not on top, bottom, inside or stuffed in frame! Barden type bumpers may need to be adjusted per official’s inspections. Trailer hitches and associated connections must be completely removed 12. Engines may be chained, bolted or welded to frame. No engine mounts forward of engine block. 4” max mounts. One mount per side only. 13. Engine must remain in stock position. No cutting of firewall for engine swaps or set back. You may cut maximum of a 12” x 12” hole in firewall to relieve distributor rollback. Holes must be covered for safety. 14. Radiators, if used, must be in stock location, may be strapped or wired in, no welding. 15. All trucks must have an engine air cleaner. 16. Doors must be chained or welded, filler not to exceed 1” inch stock. Truck bed may be welded to cab along outside 12” max. 17. Tailgate must be welded or chained, 2 chains on bottom 2 on top, do not wrap around bumper, around rear frame ok, chain ¼ in to ½ in max. 18. Steering, break away joint may be solid; all other steering must be stock. 19. Hood must be chained only no welding. Mandatory four chains, no more no less, ½” max... No frame contact. Hole (12”) must be cut out of hood over carburetor for fire suppression. 20. Seat belts are Mandatory. Front seat may be bolted or welded down. Bucket seat allowed. 21. Mandatory, CAB and BED body bolts must be up-graded to ½” with 6” washers 22. No spring clamps, see officials for any spring repairs. 23. Leaf spring shackles may be re-hung, 3” wide shackles Max. 24. Second time. Holes in firewall must be covered!!! 25. NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS 26. Tires must automotive type and street tread, Max 16” wheel size, no aggressive tires on drive axels. Air only in tires Optional Vehicle Specifications: 1. Mufflers may be removed. 2. Locked rear-ends. 3. Fenders may be cut away from wheels. 4. Transmission cooler, if used, must be covered. 5. Bumper may be trimmed. 6. One A/C condenser allowed. 7. Frame repairs (None) Call for information · It is illegal to weld body seams unless specified in rules · It is illegal to weld, paint, undercoat, mud, sand, grind etc. any portion of car’s frame unless specified in rules. Used cars must have frame washed of debris (dirt) from prior derbies. · If you believe one of the winning cars is illegal, you must put the complaint in writing and back it up with $150.00. If we find the complaint not to be valid the money will not be refunded. Protests restricted to drivers only. · Any person over 16 and under 18 is required to have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver in person, prior to entering Pit area. · Any and All persons entering pit area will be required to submit proof of Identification (California driver’s license or ID) and to sign waiver. · All vehicles will be searched for weapons, alcohol, and drugs prior to entering pit area. |
